Public Sessions & Events
​
What age is Messy Makers suitable for?
There's something at Messy Makers for almost every age!
​
Our famous messy + sensory play experiences are designed primarily for younger children, while activities such as Slime & Science Labs, Plush Paradise, painting, craft and other creative workshops are perfect for older children too.
​
Each event will show the recommended age range in the booking information, so always check the individual event before booking.
​
Do I need to book in advance?
For most ticketed sessions, yes.
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly during weekends and school holidays, as popular sessions can fill quickly.

Some events are completely free or operate on a walk-in basis. If that's the case, it will be clearly stated on the individual event listing.

Do adults need a ticket for a child's event?
No. Tickets are generally required for participating children only unless the individual event states otherwise.
​
Always check the event information before booking, as some venues or special events may operate differently.
​
What should my child wear?
Something you're happy for them to get messy in!
​
For messy + sensory play, we strongly recommend old clothes or clothing that can easily be washed.
Depending on the activity, bringing a spare set of clothes can also be a very good idea.

Will my child actually get messy?
They certainly can!
​
We encourage children to explore activities at their own pace. Some children dive straight in while others prefer to watch, touch or gradually become involved.
​
There is never any pressure to participate in a particular activity.
​
Do you provide aprons?
Generally no unless otherwise specifically stated in the event description on the website.
​
Even when aprons are provided, we still recommend wearing clothes that you're comfortable getting messy.
​
Are your activities taste-safe?
Some of our activities for younger children use taste-safe ingredients, however not every activity or product is designed to be eaten.
​
Messy Makers activities are play experiences rather than food activities, and children should always be supervised by their accompanying adult.
If your child has allergies, intolerances or additional requirements, please contact us before attending so we can provide information relevant to the particular session.
What if my child has allergies?
Please contact us before the session if your child has any known allergies or sensitivities.
Ingredients and materials vary depending on the theme and activities being delivered, so we're happy to provide more specific information about the event you're attending.
Parents and carers remain responsible for supervising their child throughout the session.
Do parents stay during the session?
For our younger children's public sessions, yes.

A parent, carer or responsible adult must remain with and supervise their child throughout the activity unless the event specifically states that it is a supervised drop-off program.
Messy Makers Educators are there to deliver the experience, encourage participation and create the fun — but you still know your little Messy Maker best.
What happens if my child doesn't want to participate?
That's completely fine.

Children engage with sensory and creative activities in different ways. Some jump straight in, while others need time to observe and become comfortable. We encourage children to explore at their own pace without forcing participation.
​
How long do sessions run?
Session length depends on the activity and event.
​
You'll find the exact session time and duration on the individual event listing when booking.

Where are your sessions held?
Messy Makers runs sessions, workshops and events across a growing number of locations.

Bookings
​
I've booked a session. Where is my confirmation?
You should receive a booking confirmation using the email address entered when purchasing your ticket.
​
If you can't see it, check your junk or spam folder first.
​
Still can't find it? Contact us and our team can help locate your booking.
​
Can I transfer my ticket to somebody else?
Where permitted, contact us before the event and we'll let you know what options are available for your particular booking.

Some externally hosted or venue-operated events may have different conditions.
​
What happens if I can no longer attend?
Cancellation and change conditions vary depending on the type of booking.
​
Please check the terms attached to your booking or contact us as soon as possible.
For parties, private events and other bookings where staff, equipment and materials have been specifically allocated to your event, different cancellation
conditions apply.
What happens if Messy Makers cancels an event?
If Messy Makers needs to cancel or significantly change a ticketed event, affected customers will be contacted using the details supplied when booking and advised of the available options.

Free Events & Shopping Centre Activities
​
Are your shopping centre & other location activities really free?
Many of them are! If an activity is free, we'll clearly show that on the event listing. If there are any requirements to joining in (ie. some events require you to be a member of the Club or Hotel Group, this will be stated within the event information on the booking page.

Some free events still require registration or booking because places may be limited.
Do I still need to book for a free event?
Sometimes.
​
Some free events are bookable sessions, while others are walk-in activities.
​
Check the individual listing for the event you're attending — it will tell you exactly what you need to do.
Can Messy Makers come to our shopping centre or venue?
Absolutely.
​
We work with shopping centres, councils, hotels, pubs & clubs, community organisations and other venues to deliver everything from individual workshops to multi-day school holiday activations.
​
Programs can be tailored to the age group, expected attendance, available space, theme and objectives of the event.

Parties & Private Events

Do you do birthday parties?
We sure do.
​
Messy Makers offers a wide range of party experiences for different ages and interests — from messy + sensory play through to slime, creative workshops, plush activities and plenty more.

We bring the activity, equipment and fun to you.
​

Do you come to our house or venue?
Yes.
​
Many of our party and private event packages are mobile, meaning the Messy Makers team comes to your chosen location.
​
Travel availability and any applicable travel charges depend on the package and location.
​
What is included in a Messy Makers party?
This varies depending on the activity, but packages generally include the equipment and materials required to run your chosen experience along with a Messy Makers Educator to facilitate the activity.
​
Many packages also include setup and clean-up.
Exact inclusions are shown on each party package before you book.
Can you cater for larger parties or groups?
Yes.

If your group is larger than the standard package size, let us know.
​
We regularly deliver activities for larger private events, venues and major activations and can customise the setup where required.

Can I customise my party?
Depending on the activity, absolutely.

Childcare, Preschool & School Incursions

Do you visit childcare centres and preschools?
Yes - incursions are a big part of what we do.

Messy Makers can bring engaging hands-on activities directly to childcare centres, early learning centres, preschools and other education settings.
Programs can be tailored to different age groups, group sizes and themes.

Are your programs educational?
Absolutely.
​
Messy Makers was developed with an Early Childhood Education background and our younger children's programs are built around learning through play.
